A 180-260-GHz Double Symmetrical OMT Based on Four Reverse Couplers
Abstract
The ongoing advancement of the global Internet of Everything leads to an increasing number of wireless communication devices accessing the network and a continuous growth in data traffic. Leveraging an ultra-wideband and multi-mode transmission scheme, terahertz (THz) polarization multiplexing architectures are capable of meeting the demand for simultaneous ultra-high-speed operation of multiple devices. To this end, this paper presents a WR-4.3 band orthomode transducer (OMT) designed for THz orthogonal polarization wireless transmission systems. Based on four reverse couplers, the OMT adopts a double symmetry structure that effectively broadens the operating bandwidth. Simulation results show that within the frequency range of 180-260 GHz, the OMT achieves a reflection coefficient below 20 dB and an in-band insertion loss of less than 0.5 dB, enabling wideband signal transmission. Moreover, across the operating band, both the isolation and the cross-polarization suppression exceed 57 dB, demonstrating excellent polarization mode separation.
