Local monitoring of the content of heavy metals and their mobile forms in the soils of craters formed as a result of military operations in the Donetsk urban district
Abstract
In this work, the content of heavy metals (Ni(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), Cu(II), Crtotal.) and their mobile forms in soil samples taken directly from craters formed as a result of artillery shelling in Donetsk was determined using the atomic absorption method in the flame and electrothermal variants. The content of mobile forms of Cr(VI) extracted from the soil with 0.1 M solutions of HNO3, NaHCO3, and an acetate-ammonia buffer solution with a pH of 4.8 was determined using the photometric method with 1,5-diphenylcarbazide. The correctness and effectiveness of the applied methods were proven using the "added-found" method by adding solutions of standard samples. The studied soil samples showed a wide range of Pb(II) content, reaching an extremely high value of 7.2 MPC for individual samples. There was an excess of 2.7 MPC for Crtotal. The content of Ni(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II) in all samples was within the established MPC limits. The presence of mobile forms of Cr(VI) in the studied samples was revealed.
