TL;DR
A systematic review and meta‐analysis aimed to quantify the stand‐alone effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation on muscle mass in adults with sarcopenia or secondary muscle loss and explore whether population, stimulation parameters, and assessment methods modified treatment effects.
Abstract
Evidence for the stand‐alone effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on muscle mass in adults with sarcopenia or secondary muscle loss remains fragmented. This systematic review and meta‐analysis aimed to quantify this effect and explore whether population, stimulation parameters, and assessment methods modified treatment effects.
Therapeutic exercise is central to knee osteoarthritis (KOA) management, but movement‐evoked pain may limit adherence and outcomes. High‐frequency transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation may reduce pain during movement and enhance exercise‐related outcomes. This study evaluated whether high‐frequency transcutaneous...

BACKGROUND
Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) uses surface electrodes to deliver electrical impulses that stimulate motor nerves causing muscle contractions. A potential use of NMES is for intradialytic rehabilitation strategy for patients undergoing maintenance haemodialysis (HD), but its effectiveness remain...

This systematic review aimed to analyse the additional effects of manual therapy (MT) to exercise (EX) compared to EX alone on pain, function, and PPT in individuals with knee osteoarthritis (KOA).

Major abdominal surgery (MAS) is associated with early postoperative muscle loss and impaired physical function. Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) has been proposed as a promising intervention for mitigating these effects. However, evidence regarding its efficacy, safety, and prescription remains limited. This...
