Abstract

The El-Rakhawi Modular Autonomous Biomanufacturing System (MABS) (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23305330) presents a groundbreaking compact platform for decentralized therapeutic production, integrating four core subsystems within a footprint under 4 square meters: (1) Modular Microfluidic Cell Processing Unit (MMCPU) with disposable closed-system cartridges for automated cell isolation, expansion, and genetic modification; (2) Autonomous Perfusion Bioreactor (APB) featuring inline Raman spectroscopy for real-time metabolic profiling and continuous perfusion via alternating tangential flow filtration; (3) AI-Driven Bioprocess Control Engine (AIBCE) utilizing reinforcement learning and digital twin modeling for adaptive parameter optimization with explainable decision logging; (4) Inline Quality Assurance Module (IQAM) integrating flow cytometry, digital PCR, and endotoxin detection for real-time product characterization and automatic batch release compliant with 21 CFR Part 11. Targeted at total system cost below $10,000 USD, MABS enables Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant production of autologous cell therapies, recombinant proteins, and nucleic acid therapeutics in university hospitals and resource-limited settings, eliminating dependence on centralized facilities requiring $50 million+ capital investment. Published as sovereign defensive prior art under WIPO/TRIPS norms, the specification explicitly invalidates future patent claims on this integration of modular autonomous biomanufacturing, closed-loop bioprocess control with inline Raman spectroscopy, AI-driven adaptive optimization, and compact GMP-compliant therapeutic production. All sovereign intellectual property rights are exclusively reserved to the author, Dr. Mohamed Kamal Arafa El-Rakhawi, with unauthorized commercial use strictly prohibited under Egyptian IP Law No. 82 of 2002 and international treaties—establishing a transformative standard for decentralized biomanufacturing that democratizes access to life-saving therapeutics while strengthening global health security.
