Abstract

Bird occurrence records (Aves, GBIF taxonKey 212) used in Course Project 9 to compute effort-corrected species richness for 884 one-degree grid cells covering South and Southeast Asia (5-31°N, 68-102°E). The records were obtained through the GBIF occurrence search API with a species facet, not as a download. Filters: hasCoordinate=true, hasGeospatialIssue=false, occurrenceStatus=PRESENT, year 2000-2024. Queried on 2026-10-05/06. The attached contributing-dataset counts were re-queried on 2026-10-09 with identical filters: 71,716,026 records from 110 datasets, against 71,719,018 summed over cells at pull time; the small difference is database drift and records on shared cell edges. The per-cell derived dataset, codebook, counts file and analysis scripts are deposited at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23264805.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

Proof-based general-purpose computing with Magnetar

Zero-knowledge proofs can verify computing results without rerunning workloads or exposing sensitive data. Magnetar helps bring them into the mainstream with support for standard programming languages, major speed gains, and quantum-resistant security.
