Design and evaluation of additive manufacturing technologies for innovative aviation structures
Abstract
The aim of the more affordable small aircraft manufacturing (SAT AM) project was to develop the technologies enabling the manufacture of lighter and more cost-effective aircraft airframe structures, supporting the moderniza - tion of airframe production. This paper presented the methodology and results of applying additive manufactur - ing (AM) technologies to produce components for a cabin demonstrator. The benefits of the applied technology – including materials, tools, testing procedures, and design methodology – were discussed, and the results were analyzed to highlight the project’s impact on the implementation of AM and its potential significance for future aircraft manufacturing.
