Abstract

The article explores the phenomenon of collective feat as a special form of value-laden action rooted in historical memory, civic identity, and the spiritual and moral culture of society. It shows that collective heroism is only possible provided there are patriotic attitudes that are formed during the process of socialization through family, education system, mass media, and state memory policy. Special attention is given to the analysis of value orientations and moral consciousness in the processes of social integration, especially among young people, where traditional and marginal cultural ideals compete. Collective feat is considered the highest manifestation of citizenship, in which the motivation for behavior shifts from individualistic goals to supra-personal foundations -ensuring security of the state, preserving cultural sovereignty, and protecting one's neighbor. The article examines in detail the influence of ideology and sociocultural environment on the willingness to sacrifice oneself and on legitimization of heroism in the public consciousness. Ethically, collective feat is described as a space where deontological, virtuous-ethical, and communicative-moral approaches intersect, allowing us to comprehend it as an appropriate response to extreme challenges and as a resource for the spiritual security of society as a whole. The ethical nature of collective feat is a multidimensional problem that requires careful consideration of actors' intentions, empirical results of their actions, and dynamics of the historical and cultural landscape in which their axiological value is formed. This implies an imperative of critically reevaluating heroic narratives in order to avoid their reduction to ideological constructs or their instrumentalization for violence apologia. It is concluded that preservation and transmission of memory about collective feats are a key mechanism for the inter-generation transfer of values and for a nation's cultural identity maintenance.
