Developing Climate Change Communication Framework for Improved Adaptation in Ghana: A Narrative Review Approach

2026 · Journal of Policy and Development Studies · 0 citations

Abstract

Climate change has become one of the greatest threats to human life in recent decades. Thus, stakeholders, including governments and researchers, are increasingly called upon to help design climate change strategies for improved adaptation. Indeed, conversations around climate change adaptation are incomplete without effective communication. Climate Change Communication (CCC) is key to reducing the negative impacts of climate change. Despite the critical role of communication in effective climate adaptation, it appears no clearly defined CCC frameworks exist to guide climate change communicators in Ghana. Based on a narrative review approach with data sourced from Google Scholar, Scopus, JSTOR, Semantic Scholar, African Journals Online, Academia.edu. and ResearchGate, this paper proposes a framework to guide the CCC strategies. The framework highlights critical issues which stakeholders, including communicators at both local and national levels, can consider in designing CCC strategies for improved adaptation in Ghana. The paper provides key recommendations for policy reconceptualization.
