HYBRID NETWORK INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM BASED ON SIGNATURE ANALYSIS AND MACHINE LEARNING METHODS
Abstract
In the context of increasing complexity of modern network infrastructures and the growing number of cyberattacks, improving the effectiveness of intrusion detection systems is a highly relevant task. The aim of this work is to develop and investigate a hybrid approach to network attack detection based on a combination of signature-based analysis and intelligent machine learning methods. The research methods include analysis of requirements for anomaly detection systems, comparative analysis of existing solutions, design of a hybrid system architecture, and experimental modeling using multiclass classification of network traffic. The results demonstrate that integrating a neural model with a traditional detection system improves attack detection coverage and reduces the number of false positives. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of deploying the proposed architecture in real corporate networks, while the theoretical significance consists in substantiating the effectiveness of a hybrid approach to traffic analysis. Future research directions include adaptive model training and expansion of the range of detectable attacks.
