Performance evaluation of high performance concrete developed by blending supplementary cementitious materials and using manufactured sand
Abstract
High-performance concrete (HPC) has gained prominence due to its high strength and superior rheological, mechanical and durability properties. While numerous lab-scale studies on HPC exist, research regarding long-term durability and actual field performance remains limited. This paper presents the development and performance evaluation of M60 grade HPC using manufactured sand and supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), including fly ash, micro-silica, and ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS). Two primary mixes were compared: Mix 1 (fly ash and micro-silica) and Mix 2 (GGBS and micro-silica). In both mixes, river sand was replaced with 90 % manufactured sand. The flow ability of the concrete was achieved using poly‐carboxylic ether (PCE) based high range water reducing and retarding admixture.
