THE MANAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE PROGRAM FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF EMPLOYEES AT AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
Abstract
The Management and Performance Program (PGD) is a results-based management instrument that introduced telework within Brazil’s Federal Public Administration. This article aims to investigate IFRN employees’ perceptions of the PGD regarding its benefits, challenges, and possible improvements. This is an exploratory qualitative study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with nine employees enrolled in the program and assigned to the institution’s central administration. Data were examined using Bardin’s thematic content analysis. The findings revealed that employees’ perceptions of the PGD could be organized into five categories: well-being and work–life balance; socio-professional relationships; organizational culture and change; autonomy and work organization; and communication and support. The results indicate diverse effects that depend on the organizational context, management practices, and working conditions, highlighting the need for managerial training and process simplification.
