Abstract

The emergence of social media has profoundly reshaped the dynamics of international relations, introducing new avenues for diplomacy and statecraft. This paper focuses on the transformative role of Twitter as a platform for shaping global narratives and influencing foreign policy decisions. Through a detailed analysis of tweets from world leaders, diplomats, and governmental institutions, the study explores how Twitter has democratized diplomacy by facilitating direct, unmediated, and real-time engagement with citizens, foreign governments, and global organizations. In this evolving digital arena, Twitter not only enables nations to construct and project their national identities but also plays a pivotal role in crisis management, soft power strategies, and the shaping of international public opinion. By examining key diplomatic events and crises through case studies, the research highlights Twitter’s growing significance as a strategic communication tool, underscoring its indispensable role in modern diplomatic practices and the recalibration of traditional diplomatic protocols. This paper contributes to a deeper understanding of how digital diplomacy is being redefined in the age of social media, with Twitter at the forefront of this evolution.
