Research on process technology for intelligent machining production lines of shell components
Abstract
Thin-walled shell parts are prone to deformation during machining, imposing stringent requirements on process planning, dimensional consistency and efficiency. To address the drawbacks of conventional stand-alone machining such as high labor dependence and unstable quality, this study proposes an intelligent machining production line for case parts with a customized process route. The route combines low-stress collet-based finishing, staged datum transfer and low-load layered cutting to suppress deformation of the 1.5 mm thin wall. The line integrates CNC lathes, a vertical machining center, automatic feeding and conveying systems, a truss manipulator and an industrial robot to achieve automated turning, drilling, tapping and milling. Experimental results show that the cycle time is 1.8 min per part with an annual output of 56,645 pieces, nearly 80% higher than traditional production. The Cpk value of the critical Φ43.5H7 inner bore reaches 2.45, demonstrating excellent process stability. This intelligent line significantly improves productivity and quality, providing a practical reference for automated manufacturing of similar precision components.
