Abstract

The article examines the features of methodological support for modern research in the field of physical education at the level of general scientific methodology. It is shown that the definition of methodological foundations is often declarative in nature, without significantly affecting the obtained results. There is a discrepancy between the traditional concept of "education of the physical" (orientation exclusively towards physical development) and the requirements of student-centered learning. This necessitates a transition to the "education through the physical" model, which views physical activity as a means of forming a holistic personality. It is substantiated that improving the efficiency of scientific research in physical education is impossible without updating its methodological support at the general scientific level through the integration of anthropological and axiological approaches. The use of the anthropological approach allows viewing a person as a bio-psycho-socio-cultural integrity, promotes the personalisation of the physical education process, takes into account the individual history of each personality, and creates conditions for their self-development and self-realisation. The application of the principles of constructive axiology, which implies not the "formation" or "imposition" of values, but their appropriation through the subject's active participation in constructing their own value system, taking into account individual characteristics (health, physical fitness, previous experience, needs, and interests), ensures motivation, a conscious choice of a physically active lifestyle, and individual progress in the formation of an individual's physical culture.
