Abstract

Conflagrations caused by workshop-related activities represent one of the workplace accidents with high potential occurrence at the Nizam Zachman Jakarta Oceanic Fishing Port. Data indicate that two of the six recorded fire incidents during the 2022–2024 period originated from workshop activities. Based on this condition, this study aims to identify potential hazards in operational activities, assess the associated risk levels, and formulate control recommendations for workshop activities at the dock. Data were collected through field observation, interviews, and literature review, and subsequently analyzed using the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Determining Control (HIRADC) approach. The analysis identified 3 main activities and 15 sub-activities involving varying levels of occupational risk, consisting of 13 low-risk, 1 medium-risk, and 7 high-risk categories. The implementation of the hierarchy of control is projected to measurably reduce the risk levels of those occupational hazards. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a basis for port management in strengthening a more integrated and sustainable occupational health and safety management system. Key words: HIRADC, occupational health and safety, pier, workplace accidents
