Abstract
The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the development of e-commerce and the marketplace sector in Russia during 2019–2025. The purpose of the study is to identify key trends, structural changes, and factors affecting the economic efficiency of sellers operating on digital platforms. The research is based on a systematic and platform-based approach, as well as comparative, structural, and economic analysis. The empirical base includes industry reports published by Data Insight, AKIT, and analytical data from major marketplaces. The findings demonstrate that the growth of the e-commerce market is primarily driven by an increase in the number of sellers and is accompanied by increasing market concentration around the largest platforms. The analysis reveals that the growth of marketplace GMV is associated with rising seller costs and declining profit margins, indicating the formation of an asymmetrical model of economic value distribution within the platform ecosystem. The study also identifies a mechanism of value redistribution through marketplace discount instruments and highlights the growing importance of analytical IT services as a tool for improving seller efficiency and sustainability. The results of the study have both theoretical and practical significance in the context of digital business transformation and the development of platform economy models.
