Abstract

This study explores the relationship between Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices and Employee Green Behavior (EGB) in the context of Haryana, India, a state experiencing rapid industrial growth and environmental challenges. Using a descriptive research design and purposive sampling of 152 respondents from diverse sectors, the research investigates how HRM initiatives such as green recruitment and selection, green training and development, green reward and pay and green organisational culture influence employees’ pro-environmental actions. Data collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive, inferential, factor, and regression analyses reveal that GHRM significantly fosters sustainable employee behaviors, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and eco-initiatives. Results further highlight demographic variations, with mid-career and postgraduate employees displaying higher engagement in sustainability practices. The findings underscore the critical role of HR policies in embedding sustainability within organizational culture and enhancing ecological performance. This study contributes to the growing discourse on sustainable HR practices and provides actionable insights for organizations aiming to align environmental goals with human resource strategies.
