Oka Geometry and Deformations of Torus-Fibred Complex Six-Spheres

Abstract

Starting from Alp\"oge's torus fibration with exactly three special fibres on a complex six-sphere, we construct a locally miniversal family of compact complex threefolds. Every member is Oka, and the projection over each relatively compact parameter disc is an Oka map. Deleting or simultaneously blowing up finitely many distinct points preserves the Oka property. We also determine the tangent cohomology, the smooth Kuranishi germ, the automorphism group, and the exact biholomorphism relation $X_a\simeq X_{a'}$ if and only if $a'-a\in2\mathbb{Z}$. The Oka arguments use explicit cyclic covers and Kusakabe's localization principle.

Conditional Oka Complex Structures of the Six-Sphere

Alp\"oge's construction produces a period family of compact complex threefolds fibred over $\mathbb{P}^1$, with complex two-tori as general fibres. We give a direct proof that every admissible member is Oka, using only the complex-analytic construction. Du--Guo--Kusakabe--Xie independently established the Oka property...

Rigid and obstructed tangent bundles on Calabi--Yau threefolds

We address two questions of Huybrechts concerning rigidity and singular deformation spaces of tangent bundles on Calabi--Yau threefolds, without assuming simple connectedness. Our first example is a free $(\mathbb Z/2)^3$ quotient of a smooth intersection of four quadrics in $\mathbb P^7$. Its tangent bundle is stable...

Periods of Oka K3 surfaces are dense

We give the first known examples of Oka Calabi--Yau manifolds in any dimension: every smooth hypersurface of multidegree $(2,\ldots,2)$ in a product of projective lines is Oka. Building on this example, we prove that in every local Kuranishi family of K3 surfaces the points with Oka fibers form a dense $G_\delta$ subse...

Weighted configurations and the nonexistence of arithmetic ball quotient compactifications

We prove that, for every $n\ge9$, no ordered GIT quotient of $n$ points on $\mathbb P^1$ with positive rational weights smaller than one and of total weight two is isomorphic to the Baily--Borel compactification of an arithmetic complex ball quotient. The weights may lie on stability walls, and the lattice may have tor...

Modular functoriality for finite groups

We develop an extension of Deligne--Lusztig theory to certain (possibly infinite type) disconnected reductive groups arising from the special fibers of point stabilizers in the Bruhat--Tits building, which we call \emph{paraductive}. We then compute explicit lower bounds for the Tate cohomology of representations of pa...

Xiao's Genus-Two Fibration: Branched Covers and Braid Monodromy

We compute the geometric monodromy factorization of Xiao's genus-two Lefschetz fibration directly from its branched-cover construction, following Moishezon's braid-monodromy method. The complete quadrangle determines the motion of the six branch points and gives four nonseparating and three separating vanishing cycles....
