Natural Language Processing Techniques
Abstract
In this slide deck we dive into applications and best-practices of large language models for natural language processing for the purpose of information retrieval and text translation. The target audience are scientists in linguistics and translatology who want to work more deeply with artificial intelligence. These slides are relate to the hands-on exercise materials published here: http://scads.github.io/ai4translatology-2026 The English slides were presented during the training session. The German slides were auto-translated using Microsoft Copilot and translate-pptx an open source alternative using sovereign IT infrastructure at the Compute Center ZIH at TU Dresden.
The results are packaged in the Greenfield Startup Model (GSM), which explains the priority of startups to release the product as quickly as possible, and the need to shorten time-to-market, by speeding up the development through low-precision engineering activities.

The findings show that speed related agile practices are used to a greater extent in comparison to quality practices, and that software startups who adopt the Lean Startup approach do not sacrifice quality for speed more than other startups do.

Zero-knowledge proofs can verify computing results without rerunning workloads or exposing sensitive data. Magnetar helps bring them into the mainstream with support for standard programming languages, major speed gains, and quantum-resistant security.
