Abstract

During the mid-to-late production phase, gas wells situated in the western Sulige gas field typically exhibit “low pressure, low output, and limited water volume.” These conditions lead to diminished fluid-carrying ability and a progressive buildup of liquid within the wellbore. Scientifically refining drainage gas recovery techniques is therefore vital for boosting well efficiency and supporting the gas field’s overall development. This paper details the mechanisms and diagnostic methods for liquid loading, examining its characteristics across 30 producing wells in this region. Drawing upon established practices in the Sulige gas field, the suitability of various drainage gas recovery methods was assessed. Furthermore, based on the traits of existing conventional technologies, optimizations were performed for both individual and combined process applications, followed by a field performance review. The goal was to identify measures that are both cost-effective and widely adaptable. The study concludes by exploring the future trajectory of drainage gas recovery technology in this area, offering fresh perspectives for optimizing late-stage production.
