GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR OPTIMIZED RARE METAL EXPLORATION IN EASTERN KAZAKHSTAN (GISORMEK)
Abstract
Optimization of rare metal mining and concentration processes is possible with the application of the latest achievements in the field of geospatial analysis and data modeling. The goal of this research is to develop a geoportal structure for optimizing rare metals production, using the Asubulak ore field in the Kalba-Narym ore belt of the Republic of Kazakhstan as an example. A geological database has been created, combining various data sources, including archival data corresponding to maps of various scales — from 1:1,000,000 to 1:10,000. Additional data sources include digital elevation models (DEM) and multispectral remote sensing data, processed using various geological combinations and indices and integrated into a geospatial information system to optimize the exploration of rare‑earth metals in Eastern Kazakhstan (GISORMEK). The developed structure will allow the integration of heterogeneous data sets, thorough analysis and spatial alignment of geological features to determine the location of objects for exploration. The developed structure will make it possible to integrate heterogeneous data sets, carry out a thorough analysis and spatial coordination of geological features to determine the location of objects for exploration. The GISORMEK project is innovative for the region, and the results of systematizing cartographic data can significantly increase the efficiency and accessibility of mineral exploration in Eastern Kazakhstan.
