Abstract

Hypertension and DM are the two major chronic non-communicable diseases of the world and often are associated with each other due to common metabolic, vascular, and inflammatory pathway. Their presence in combination significantly raises the probability of the development of cardiovascular, renal and microvascular complications, which makes it necessary to manage them comprehensively. This review covers integrative strategies that integrate contemporary medical interventions, Ayurvedic therapies, and hematological markers in the prevention and management of these conditions. Shared pathophysiological mechanisms, prevention measures, conventional pharmacotherapy, ayurvedic therapeutic principles and clinical relevance of hematological, inflammatory, oxidative stress, glycemic and lipid biomarkers for disease prediction and monitoring are discussed. It also discusses new advances in precision medicine, artificial intelligence, digital health technologies, and biomarker-driven personalized care and how these can enhance clinical decision-making and long-term patient results. As of today, there is evidence that combining evidence-based conventional treatment with scientifically proven complementary treatment modalities, provided by a multidisciplinary treatment team and regular monitoring of biomarkers, can improve treatment efficacy, limit disease progression, and prevent adverse events. More rigorous clinical research and standardisation of treatment protocols would be necessary, however, to define the long term safety, efficacy and clinical utility of integrative healthcare for diabetes and hypertension
