Abstract

Does the additional attraction of a dwarf galaxy depend on its history? A pre-registered test of the quenching-time relation on 51 dwarf galaxies. Version 1.5, 16 October 2026. The Informational Vector World Model (IVW) predicts that dwarf galaxies which stopped forming stars early show a larger velocity dispersion than a law without memory allows. The prediction was fixed in writing before the evaluation (pre-registered, SHA-256 checksums kept within the project, no external timestamp). On 51 dwarf galaxies the pre-registered criterion is met: 2ΔlnL = +32.3 (threshold 9), slope 1.47 ± 0.26. The paper then looks for reasons not to believe this. The particular form of the relation is not supported: with the same number of parameters a simple linear dependence on the quenching time fits better, and under the relation this happens in 4 of 4000 simulations. The signal rests mainly on the difference between gas-rich and gas-free dwarfs, and three known biases that enlarge this difference are not corrected for. After the result, the signal also turns out to be degenerate with luminosity: absolute magnitude alone explains the data far better than the quenching time (+67.1 against +25.3), and a paired test at equal luminosity, fixed in advance, cannot decide (0.46 ± 0.46; about 50 new pairs would be needed). The paper states what it does not show. The question whether the additional attraction depends on history or only on luminosity stays open. Ein vorregistrierter Test der Abschaltzeit-Beziehung an 51 Zwerggalaxien. Fassung 1.5, 16. Oktober 2026.
