The Smart Map of Sustainable Development Goals For Analyzing Indicators and Future Scenarios Until 2035-Al-Rahaliya Subdistrict, Ramadi District, as a Case Study
Abstract
This research paper presents a new attempt to analyze selected indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals and develop future scenarios for them through 2035 in the Al-Rahaliyah sub-district of Ramadi District, based on the importance of utilizing modern geographic technologies and artificial intelligence models for sustainable spatial planning. The study area is located within the desert environment of Anbar Governorate and faces a range of development challenges, most notably the limited integration of population, service, and environmental data needed to measure the level of sustainable regional development. The research aims to create a smart geographic platform for analyzing sustainable development indicators and to select indicators that align with the region’s geographic, social, and economic characteristics to produce smart maps that reveal development levels, areas of deficiency, and priorities. These directly relevant goals are: (Good Health and Well-being), (Quality Education), (Clean Water and Sanitation), (Affordable and Clean Energy), (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), (Climate Action), and (Life on Land). The research relied on a descriptive approach to present the reality of the indicators, an analytical approach to interpret spatial variation, an applied approach to produce maps and analyze development levels, as well as a forward-looking approach to extrapolate future trends through 2035. Remote sensing and artificial intelligence models from the Arena Max suite were also employed to create a smart platform for data analysis and to construct potential future scenarios. The significance of this research lies in the development of an evidence-based smart geographic framework that can contribute to identifying development priorities, guiding investments, and providing a database and maps to support decision-making and achieve sustainable development in the Al-Rahaliyah District through 2035.
