Abstract

Profitability reflects a company's ability to generate earnings through the effective utilization of its resources. The level of profitability is influenced by various factors, including inventory management efficiency, the company's ability to meet its short-term obligations, and firm size. This study aims to examine the effect of inventory turnover, liquidity, and firm size on the profitability of retail companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020-2024 period. This study employed a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the annual financial statements of retail companies. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique based on predetermined criteria, resulting in 28 sample companies. The data were analyzed using panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach through EViews software. Profitability was proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), inventory turnover was measured using Inventory Turnover (IT), liquidity was measured using the Current Ratio (CR), while firm size was measured using the Natural Logarithm of Total Assets (LnTA). The results indicate that inventory turnover has a positive and significant effect on profitability, liquidity has a negative and significant effect on profitability, whereas firm size has a positive but insignificant effect on profitability.
