Morphology and multigene phylogeny reveal five new species and two new records of saprobic microfungi from Yunnan, China
Abstract
Abstract During an investigation of saprobic microfungi on dead branches in Yunnan Province, China, seven distinct taxa were obtained using single-spore isolation. Based on detailed morphological examination and multigene phylogenetic analyses (maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference) using ribosomal and protein-coding loci, five new species and two new records were identified. The new species are Anastomitrabeculia yunnanensis, Coryneum lincangense, C. lancangense, Helicoma nixiense, and Sclerococcum xiaokongense; the two new records are Dictyocheirospora rotunda and Proliferodiscus chiangraiensis, with the latter representing the first documented asexual morph of the species. These taxa belong to four classes of Ascomycota: Dothideomycetes (Pleosporales, Tubeufiales), Eurotiomycetes (Sclerococcales), Leotiomycetes (Helotiales), and Sordariomycetes (Diaporthales). Detailed descriptions, illustrations, and phylogenetic analyses are provided for all taxa.
