TL;DR

In this exploratory analysis, MRI phenotype was associated with disease-free survival in triple-negative and ER-low breast cancers, and need to be confirmed in larger studies before MRI morphology can be considered a prognostic imaging biomarker in aggressive breast cancer subtypes.

Abstract

Simple Summary Breast cancer is not a single disease but a group of tumors that behave very differently from one another. In this study of 407 women, we examined whether tumor appearance on breast magnetic resonance imaging is associated with long-term outcomes. In an exploratory analysis, MRI phenotype was associated with disease-free survival in triple-negative and ER-low breast cancer. Circumscribed, unifocal tumors (Type 2 phenotype) are associated with significantly better disease-free survival, whereas spiculated or multifocal patterns (Types 1 and 3) are associated with worse outcomes in these aggressive subtypes. MRI morphology may provide prognostic information beyond molecular subtype in triple-negative breast cancer; these exploratory findings require validation in larger prospective cohorts.

Mammographic Patterns Reflecting Molecular Subtypes in Breast Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer in women worldwide. Its prognosis depends upon tumor biology and molecular type. Mammography is globally accepted as the main modality for screening and early detection of breast cancer. Mammographically demonstrated morphological features can also provide cl...

Integrated MRI-Derived, Pathologic, and Molecular Biomarkers for Prediction of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response in Breast Cancer

Pretreatment MRI biomarkers may provide complementary information for predicting NACT response when interpreted with clinicopathologic and molecular features and supports an integrated multiparametric assessment rather than reliance on any single biomarker.

MRI-derived features reveal recurrence heterogeneity in VI-RADS 2 non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer

Objectives To characterize recurrence heterogeneity among patients with VI-RADS 2 non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) and to develop and internally validate a recurrence-free survival (RFS) prediction model incorporating quantitative MRI features. Methods This retrospective study included 342 patients with patho...
