Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the cocopeat sandwich method and the application of household waste liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) on the growth of grapevine cuttings (Vitis vinifera L.). The experiment was conducted using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: planting media consisting of without cocopeat (A1) and cocopeat sandwich (A2), and LOF concentrations consisting of 0 mL (B0), 25 mL (B1), 50 mL (B2), and 75 mL (B3). The observed parameters included shoot length, shoot diameter, number of shoots, and number of leaves at 4, 8, and 12 weeks after planting (WAP). The results showed that the cocopeat sandwich method, the application of household waste LOF, and their interaction had no significant effect on all observed growth parameters. However, descriptively, variations in values were observed among treatments, with several treatment combinations showing relatively better growth than others. The non-significant results were presumably due to the physiological condition of the cuttings, which still relied on internal food reserves, as well as environmental conditions that were already favorable for plant growth. Overall, this study indicated that the use of the cocopeat sandwich method and household waste LOF did not significantly affect the initial growth of grapevine cuttings.
