Data Storage Systems Reliability Assessment for Distributed Industrial Control Systems
Abstract
In the context of the digitalization of the economy, especially when economic entities are geographically dispersed, the reliability of industrial control systems becomes critically important. However, it remains unclear how to assess the reliability of such industrial control systems, given that we are dealing with a geographically distributed system. A data storage system is the foundation of any automated system. The importance of digital data integrity increases significantly in the conditions of digitalization as it becomes a key factor in the system's operation. This article presents a methodology for assessing the reliability of data storage systems for distributed automated control systems. A data storage method is proposed for assessing the reliability of a distributed system using reliability matrices, which allow identifying critical elements affecting the reliability of the system in general. We propose assessment methods based on finding the minimum reliability of data storage nodes, finding the minimum spanning tree to assess the reliability of communication channels, a hybrid method for assessing the reliability of nodes and communication channels, and a complex reliability assessment method. Practical application issues are discussed. Directions for further research are identified.
