Abstract
Lithium‐ion batteries can deliver higher energy densities when using high‐voltage cathodes such as LiNi

(LNMO), yet their practical application is hindered by the catalytic nature of high‐voltage cathode materials which usually cause electrolytes decomposition. Although the utilization of fluorinated carbonates as electrolyte solvent considerably inhibited the parasitic reaction at cathode side, the irrational fluorination often leads to the sluggish Li

transport which finally causes poor rate performance. Here, we design a family of trifluoromethyl‐substituted carboxylate esters as electrolyte solvents. We found that the spatial arrangement between the ‐CF

and the carbonyl group in these fluorinated esters is critical for regulating the electrolyte solvation structures. A short distance (α‐substitution) severely weakens the solvating power of the solvent, resulting in a substantial decrease in ionic conductivity, whereas an extended separation (γ‐substitution) compromises the oxidation resistance against high‐voltage cathodes. Only the trifluoromethylation at the β‐position yields optimal solvent (methyl 3,3,3‐trifluoropropionate, MTFP) that can simultaneously meets high‐voltage and fast‐charging requirements of LNMO||Gr cells when pairing with fluoroethylene carbonate and 1 M LiPF

. In such electrolyte, the Ah‐level LNMO||Gr pouch cells deliver 78% capacity retention at 6C charge/discharge rate (13.2 mA cm

), and stably operate over 300 cycles at the high rate of 3C.
Fluorinating electrolyte solvents is an effective strategy to enhance the interfacial stability of lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) under high‐voltage conditions, where severe interfacial side reactions typically undermine the long‐term performance. However, the influence of both the number and positional arrangement o...

Polyether electrolytes (PE) suffer from strong Li+–ether oxygen coordination and poor high voltage oxidative stability. Herein, we use in situ copolymerization to covalently graft the strongly electron-withdrawing −CF3 groups onto the backbone, synthesizing FPME, which delocalizes electron density around ether oxygen...

Sodium metal batteries (SMBs) offer a promising route toward cost‐effective energy storage, but their operation in carbonate electrolytes is limited by coupled NaPF6 degradation and interfacial instability. Trace moisture triggers salt hydrolysis and HF formation, continuously disrupting SEI/CEI chemistry and aggravati...

Developing electrolytes compatible with high-voltage operation is critical for high-energy-density lithium metal batteries. Aliphatic dinitriles, owing to the ability of cyano groups to stabilize cathode interfaces and suppress transition metal dissolution, are promising high-voltage electrolyte additives; however, str...

Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) offer a promising, cost‐effective alternative for large‐scale energy storage due to the abundance of sodium. However, their practical deployment is challenged by sluggish interfacial kinetics and unstable interphase formation, which severely limit performance across wide temperature rang...

Carbonate electrolytes underpin the success of current Li‐ion batteries but still remain challenging for high‐voltage Li||NCM811 batteries. Specifically, the carbonate electrolytes fail to stabilize the electrode/electrolyte interface and support high‐power output of Li||NCM811 batteries. Herein, we report an addit...
