Genetic variation in IL-6 rs1800796 and its association with non-Hodgkin lymphoma susceptibility in the Egyptian population

Aug 2026 · Journal of Biosciences · Vol 51 · 0 citations · 37 references

TL;DR

The results support the use of the IL-6 variation in the diagnosis and genetic screening of NHL but not for therapeutic choices, and suggest that individuals carrying the G allele may be at twice the risk of developing NHL compared with those carrying the C allele.

Synergistic Effects of IL17A rs2275913 and IL17F rs763780 on Endometriosis Risk and Severity

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disorder with a complex genetic etiology. The interleukin-17 (IL-17) family, particularly IL-17 A and IL-17 F, plays a critical role in driving pro-inflammatory responses within the peritoneal cavity. This case-control study investigated the association of IL17A rs2275913 and IL1...

Association of CSF2, IL12B, IL23R, TNF, IL6 and IL10 Gene Polymorphisms with Susceptibility to Takayasu Arteritis

Background: Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a large-vessel vasculitis with an incompletely understood pathogenesis, in which genetic factors are thought to play an important role. Cytokine-mediated immune pathways, particularly those involving Th1 and Th17 responses, have been implicated in the immunopathogenesis of TA, mak...

Association between the IL-35 rs583911 polymorphism and hepatocellular carcinoma risk in patients infected with chronic hepatitis B virus

The immunoregulatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-35 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here, we explored the association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the IL-35 gene and the occurrence of HCC in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV). We sele...

Association of ERAP1 and IL23R Gene Polymorphisms with Susceptibility and Clinical Manifestations of Spondyloarthritis in Tunisian Patients.

INTRODUCTION Among the non-HLA loci, ERAP1 and IL-23R gene polymorphisms have been implicated in spondyloarthritis (SpA). This study aimed to determine their association in a Tunisian cohort and to assess their influence on disease characteristics. METHODS We genotyped 100 SpA patients and 100 sex- and region-matched...

Genetic Susceptibility to Allergic Rhinitis: Impact of IL-4 Rs2243250 Polymorphism on Inflammatory Markers and Leukocyte Profiles.

The findings demonstrate an association between the IL-4 rs2243250 polymorphism and allergic rhinitis, together with alterations in inflammatory markers and leukocyte profiles, which may contribute to understanding susceptibility to allergic rhinitis.

Association of Interleukin-27 Gene Variants with Susceptibility to Brucellosis Among Iranian Population: A Case-Control Study.

OBJECTIVES Brucellosis is recognized as one of the most widespread zoonotic diseases, caused by facultative intracellular coccobacilli of the genus Brucella. Interleukin-27 (IL-27) is a pleiotropic cytokine that serves a critical role in the development of immunity against Brucella. IL-27 single nucleotide polymorphism...
