Peningkatan Kelancaran Membaca Siswa Kelas V melalui Penerapan Metode Tebak Kata pada Pembelajaran PPKn
Abstract
This study aims to measure the improvement of fifth-grade students' reading fluency through the implementation of the Word Guessing method in Civics Education (PPKn) learning at SDI Laran. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 16 fifth-grade students (7 males and 9 females). Data were collected using a reading fluency test (measuring accuracy, rate, and prosody) and observation sheets for teacher and student activities. Data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results indicated that in the pre-action phase, classical completeness of reading fluency reached only 56% (9 students completed). After implementing the Word Guessing method in Cycle I, classical completeness increased to 100% (16 students completed), although quality was still dominated by the 'fair' category (56%) and the observation score was in the Fair category (score 28). Following strategic refinements in Cycle II, a significant quality improvement occurred, with 31% of students (5 students) reaching the 'very good' category and 69% (11 students) in the 'good' category. Observation scores also rose dramatically to the Very Good category (score 45). In conclusion, the Word Guessing method effectively improves students' reading fluency in Civics learning.
