Abstract

Today, the most accessible and widespread way to maintain white teeth and brighten them on a daily basis is to use toothpastes at home. It’s important to note that, in addition to whitening, toothpastes must also have good cleaning properties. However, high RDA 150 values can also lead to increased tooth sensitivity, one of the most common dental complications associated with the systematic use of whitening toothpastes at home. The search for toothpastes with high cleaning power, promoting tooth whitening without causing hypersensitivity, is a relevant and promising area in modern therapeutic dentistry. The aim of our study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of PRESIDENT® BLACK toothpaste. The study involved 60 patients aged 20 to 35 years, all with a smoking history of at least five years, and no history of decompensated chronic somatic diseases. A visual analog scale and the Schiff Air Index were used to assess pain response intensity. The PHP and API indices, as well as color change using the Vita scale, were also analyzed. The study results showed that the studied toothpaste reduced plaque buildup on smooth surfaces by an average of 79,1% and on proximal surfaces by 61,2% (p <0.001). It effectively prevented the formation of bacterial film and restaining of teeth. PresiDENT Black toothpaste whitened teeth by an average of 1 shades on the standard Vita scale.
