Abstract

This study is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of Russian-Chinese maritime cooperation as an important element of the “Turn to the East” strategy. Methodologically, the research is based on three complementary approaches: document analysis, study of specific cases, and interpretation of political decisions. Particular at-tention is paid to the period from 2013 to 2024, which makes it possible to trace the evolution of interaction be-tween the two countries in the maritime sphere. This analysis revealed a qualitative transformation in coopera-tion – from individual economic projects to a comprehensive system of multi-level interaction. The established model of communication, founded on the principles of mutual benefit and strategic trust, demonstrates resili-ence in the face of external challenges. The research results show the presence of the prominent complimen-tarity between the two countries in the relationship. Russia provide the sources and geopolitical advances, while China afford finances and technological potential. Such model of cooperation makes deeper the bilateral rela-tions offering new approaches to the global management of marine space. Its further development requires concentrating the efforts on new promising areas while simultaneously strengthening the institutional frame-work for interaction.
