Treatment Outcomes and Toxicity of Cisplatin–Etoposide-Based Regimens and Carboplatin–Paclitaxel as Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Ovarian Adult Granulosa Cell Tumors: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study
Abstract
Simple Summary Adult granulosa cell tumors of the ovary are rare malignancies, and the role of adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery remains uncertain. Bleomycin–etoposide–cisplatin has traditionally been used, while carboplatin–paclitaxel has increasingly been adopted as an alternative regimen. This multicenter retrospective study evaluated disease-free survival, treatment delivery, and toxicity in 58 patients treated with cisplatin–etoposide-based regimens or carboplatin–paclitaxel. No statistically significant difference in disease-free survival was detected between the treatment groups. However, distinct toxicity patterns were observed: peripheral neuropathy was more frequent with carboplatin–paclitaxel, nephrotoxicity occurred only in the cisplatin-based group, and pulmonary toxicity was observed only among patients exposed to bleomycin. Given the retrospective design, small sample size, and potential for treatment-selection bias, these findings should be considered exploratory and should not be interpreted as evidence of equivalent efficacy or superiority of either regimen.
