Abstract

The child abuse case at Little Aresha Daycare in Yogyakarta has attracted public attention as it demonstrates violations of children's rights within an institution that is supposed to provide safe care and protection. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the rule of law in handling child abuse cases at Little Aresha Daycare in Yogyakarta, including law enforcement against perpetrators, the application of child protection laws, the protection of victims' rights, and the effectiveness of government supervision over childcare institutions. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected through the examination of laws and regulations, books, scientific journals, and other relevant literature sources. The findings indicate that the principles of the rule of law have been implemented through legal proceedings against the perpetrators and the application of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection as the legal basis for handling the case. However, the case also reveals weaknesses in government supervision of daycare institutions, inadequate caregiver competence, and the lack of optimal regulations governing operational standards for childcare facilities. Therefore, strengthening supervision systems, improving caregiver competence, and enhancing regulatory frameworks are necessary to establish a more effective and equitable child protection system.
