Searches for Charged Lepton Flavor Violation (CLFV) are powerful tools to probe physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). This chapter provides a comprehensive survey of CLFV theory, focusing primarily on low-energy muon and tau transitions while outlining complementary searches from high-energy colliders. Grounded in the Effective Field Theory (EFT) framework, we systematically review key observables including radiative and purely leptonic decays of muon and tau as well as $\mu\to e$ conversion in nuclei and $\tau$ hadronic decay channels. CLFV involving light new physics particles is also discussed. This review captures the modern synergy between EFTs, novel light-mediator scenarios, and hadronic and nuclear physics in the ongoing hunt for BSM signals.
Charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) provides a highly sensitive probe of physics beyond the Standard Model. This experimental review discusses $\mu^{-} \to e^{-}$ conversion in nuclei, which is a muon CLFV process characterized by a clean monoenergetic-electron signature and the ability to exploit large samples of s...
Up to now, the Standard Model (SM) remains confronted with several outstanding issues, including the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe, as well as the masses, oscillations, and hierarchical structure of neutrinos. These challenges are closely tied to the naturalness and stability of the SM, and have motivated...
We investigate the prospects for improving the heavy neutral lepton (HNL) searches at the far-forward LHC experiments FASER and FASER$\nu$, as well as their proposed HL-LHC successors, FASER2 and FASER$\nu$2, using new HNL production mechanisms. We consider scenarios in which HNLs couple directly to a new $U(1)$ gauge...

We study the potential of very high-energy lepton colliders to probe effective operators affecting the loop-induced Higgs boson decays $h\to \gamma\gamma$ and $h\to Z\gamma$, providing constraints complementary to Higgs coupling measurements at the Large Hadron Collider. In particular, we consider processes with two an...

The BESIII experiment searches for rare and symmetry-violating decays with the largest charmonium and threshold open-charm data samples. This contribution reviews recent searches for charmonium weak decays, charm flavour-changing neutral currents, charged-lepton flavour violation, and Bose-symmetry violation. The weak-...
Charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) is forbidden in the Standard Model (SM) due to massless neutrinos and absence of right-handed neutrinos. The discovery of neutrino oscillations established that the neutrinos are massive and the lepton flavor is not an exact symmetry of nature. A minimal extension of the SM that i...
