The 1,2-migration of tetracoordinated boron compounds represents a powerful strategy for the construction of C–C bonds and stereogenic centers, enabling the efficient synthesis of complex organic molecules under mild conditions. In recent years, substantial progress has been made in this field through the 1,2-migration of alkynylboronates, affording a diverse array of alkenylboron and allylic boron derivatives. In this context, electrophilic reagents readily induce the 1,2-migration of alkynylboronates, while high-oxidation-state π-acidic late transition metals, such as Pd2+ and Ni2+, have also proven effective as catalysts in reactions involving alkynylboronates. This review systematically summarizes the advances in 1,2- and 1,3-migration processes of alkynylboronates, as well as transformations involving three-component coupling reactions. Key developments include the reactions of alkynylboronates with a variety of electrophiles (protons, halogens, sulfurs, and iodonium species, et al.) to access tetrasubstituted alkenes, alkenyl halides, benzothiophenes, boracycles, and allylamines; the development of cascade and one-pot strategies that streamline synthetic routes from simple alkynes; and the integration of asymmetric catalysis for the stereoselective construction of carbon stereocenters and axial chiral motifs. The discussion also extends to the reaction scope, mechanistic studies, and synthetic utility of the methodologies described herein.
Vinyl radicals are crucial intermediates in synthetic chemistry that readily undergo a range of well-established transformations, such as hydrogen atom transfer and cyclization. Herein, we report a distinct reaction mode in which vinyl radicals, generated from the attack of a transient zinc radical on an alkyne, are...

Highly diastereoselective 1,2-metalate rearrangements of α-haloalkylboronic esters that simultaneously construct contiguous stereogenic centers remain limited. Herein, we report a highly diastereoselective and stereospecific 1,2-metalate rearrangement of enantioenriched α-haloalkylboronic esters using gem-diborylalkane...

Alkene functionalization via cyclic halonium intermediates is highly effective for stereocontrol, and a catalytic approach further expands this strategy, offering access to more advanced functionalization. Although various studies have utilized halonium species, expanding their scope to electron-deficient or π-conjugat...

Catalytic asymmetric electrophilic alkene functionalization provides a powerful strategy for the construction of complex chiral molecules. Despite significant progress in this field, the asymmetric functionalization of alkenes promoted by an electrophilic carbon species via an exo-cyclization mode remains a formidable...

Organoboron compounds are highly useful compounds in chemical synthesis, and boron-migration chemistry has recently attracted substantial interest. Herein, we report a radical 1,2-boron migrative alkylation achieved by combining photocatalysis and copper catalysis. The β-boryl NHPI esters undergo a 1,2-boron shift to a...
Gold(I) vinylidenes are powerful yet typically fleeting electrophiles whose synthetic exploitation has, until now, relied largely on two strategies: 1,2-migration of a halide or silyl group from a gold-activated alkyne, or dual gold catalysis of diyne substrates. Here, we introduce a ligand-enabled catalytic entry to t...
