It is shown that a network exhibiting bursting and traveling waves, in the presence of STDP, evolves to support more frequent bursting behavior with asymmetric wave propagation and how the feedback between bursting and connection weights leads to stable alterations in network architecture.
This work presents a Hebbian local learning rule that models synaptic modification as a function of calcium traces tracking neuronal activity and demonstrates how spike timing and rate can be complementary in their role of shaping the connectivity of spiking neural networks.

A game-theoretic description for a canonical, convergent neural circuit with general STDP and postsynaptic-potential (PSP) kernels that implements contrastive PCA and flow selection.
A finite stochastic spiking-neuron network with Elephant-type memory is introduced, in which past firing activity modifies future excitability through a reinforcement-dependent threshold, and non-explosion of the nonlinear process is proved.

It is found that STDP and desynchronization form a regulatory loop, in which STDP regulates the level of synchrony, and synchrony regulates subsequent learning strength, and STDP is capable of switching neurons from synchronization to desynchronization.

This study investigates the synchronization dynamics of neuronal populations in a bilayer Erdős-Rényi (ER) network model with adaptive synaptic plasticity, focusing on the emergence and modulation of Chimera states. By integrating the FitzHugh-Nagumo neuron model with spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) mechanisms...

Determining the amount of information a neuron receives per unit of time is key to understanding brain connectivity and how neural networks encode and transmit information. In particular, estimating this information flow by distinguishing between excitatory and inhibitory synaptic contributions is critical to understan...
