TL;DR

NHHR is inversely associated with sarcopenia risk among older Chinese men, while this association is substantially attenuated after adjustment for BMI, suggesting it may be largely confounded by body size or obesity-related factors.

Association between non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and sarcopenia with mediating role of triglyceride glucose-related indices: a cohort study in Chinese elderly adults

Background The present study aims to investigate the association and dose-response relationship between the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) and sarcopenia in elderly adults. The ultimate objective is to thereby clarify its predictive value for sarcopenia ris...

Association between non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and hypertension in Chinese elderly

The non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) is a novel lipid marker for cardiovascular disease. While previous studies have suggested a link between dyslipidemia and hypertension in various populations, the association between NHHR and hypertension in the older Chin...

J-shaped association between the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and uric acid in Chinese adults

The non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) has emerged as a composite lipid indicator, but its association with serum uric acid (SUA) and hyperuricemia (HUA) remains insufficiently characterized, particularly in middle-aged and older Chinese adults. This cross-sect...

Non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio as a lipid-based marker of hypertension: a large-scale cross-sectional investigation

Dyslipidemia is a known contributor to hypertension, yet the utility of the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) for hypertension assessment remains unclear. We examined whether the NHHR is associated with hypertension and whether this association varies by...

The non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio as a novel marker for periodontitis risk

Periodontitis has been linked to dyslipidemia, but the relationship between the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) and periodontitis remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate their association and develop a risk prediction model. This cross-sectional stu...

Association between the cholesterol-high-density lipoprotein-glucose index and the prevalence of depressive symptoms among U.S. adults: An exploratory analysis of nationally representative cross-sectional data.

In this nationally representative sample of U.S. adults, the CHG index was positively associated with the prevalence of depressive symptoms and it was suggested that HOMA-IR and ALB may statistically account for part of this association.
