TL;DR
The molecular regulatory network of HIF-1 in liver fibrosis is reviewed to provide theoretical support and identify future research directions for targeted therapy of liver fibrosis, thereby facilitating the clinical translation of relevant treatment approaches.
An overview of the current evidence on the role of HIF-1α in liver fibrosis and its connection between the major profibrotic pathways is provided and information on the new therapeutic approaches targeting hypoxia signaling is provided.
While p38 MAPK represents a promising therapeutic target for liver fibrosis, future research should focus on developing isoform-specific inhibitors, understanding context-dependent signaling outcomes, and designing combination therapies to enhance efficacy and minimize off-target effects.
