Let $S_k^\sigma(N)$ denote the space of cusp forms of level $N$, weight $k$, and Atkin-Lehner sign pattern $\sigma$, and $S_k^{\mathrm{new},\sigma}$ denote its new subspace. In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of the coefficients of the $m$-th Hecke polynomial over $S_k^\sigma(N)$ and $S_k^{\mathrm{new},\sigma}(N)$. In particular, we show that in certain settings, all but finitely many of these coefficients take a particular sign. We also study settings in which the coefficients do not tend to any particular sign.
Let $H_k$ be an $L^2$-normalized Hecke basis for the space of all holomorphic cusp forms of weight $k$. We show that $\max_{f\in H_k}\Vert F\Vert_6\gg (\log\log k)^{\frac{1}{2}}$ where $F(z)=(\Im z)^{\frac{k}{2}}f(z).$ This confirms that the $L^6$-norm of Hecke eigenforms does not converge uniformly as the weight goes to infinity. We also give some results on the joint mass of degree $6$.
For a fixed prime $p$, let $\mu_p$ denote the $p$-adic Plancherel measure. Then the first main goal of this paper is to prove effective (and moreover explicit) $\mu_p$-equidistribution of the $p$-th Hecke eigenvalues over the Atkin--Lehner subspaces $S_k^\sigma(N) \subseteq S_k(N)$ and $S_k^{\operatorname{new}, \sigma}(N) \subseteq S_k^{\operatorname{new}}(N)$. We then highlight five applications of this explicit equidistribution result. For the first application, we generalize Kim's vertical analog of the Atkin--Serre conjecture to the Atkin--Lehner setting. For the second application, we obtain explicit bounds on the number of newforms $f \in S_k^{\operatorname{new}, \sigma}(N)$ for which $p$ is extremal over $S_k^{\operatorname{new}, \sigma}(N)$. For the third application, we prove explicit asymptotics for the number of $\mathbb{F}_{p^r}$-points on the modular Jacobian $J_0(N),$ as well as on its factors $J_0^{\operatorname{new}}(N),$ $J_0^\sigma(N),$ and $J_0^{\operatorname{new}, \sigma}(N)$. We also make explicit an asymptotic result of Serre concerning point counts of the modular curves $X_0(N)$. For the fourth application, we generalize lower bounds due to Murty and Sinha on the sizes of large $\mathbb{Q}$-simple factors of $J_0(N)$ to analogous bounds for $J_0^\sigma(N)$. Finally, for the fifth application (the details of which are given in a separate paper), we use our explicit equidistribution result to prove that only finitely many modular Jacobians are supersingular modulo any fixed prime.

Let $\mathfrak{X}_k\subseteq{\sf Mat}_{m, n}$ denote the variety of $m\times n$ complex matrices with rank at most $k$. The power series and rational expressions for the Hilbert series of $\mathfrak{X}_k$ are known by geometric arguments, and equating these expressions yields a family of formulas generalizing the classical Cauchy and dual Cauchy identities. We pose the problem of giving a direct combinatorial proof of these formulas for $0<k<\min\{m, n\}$. When $k=1$ or $k=\min\{m, n\}-1$, we give such a proof via an explicit sign-reversing involution on certain sets of Littlewood--Richardson tableaux.
We study the distribution of signs of the (real-valued) Hecke eigenvalues $A(m,1,...,1)$ of self-dual Hecke--Maass cusp forms for the group $\mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb Z)$, where $n\geq 2$ is an integer. Our main result establishes, under Generalised Ramanujan--Petersson Conjecture, that for almost all $x\sim X$ the short interval $[x,x+H]$ contains a subset $\mathcal S$ (resp. $\mathcal S')$ of size $\gg H(\log X)^{1/n^2-1}$ such that $A(m,1,...,1)$ is positive (resp. negative) for all $m\in\mathcal S$ (resp. $m\in\mathcal S'$), provided that $(\log X)^{1-1/n^2}\ll H\ll X$. We also prove a slightly stronger result unconditionally for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ and $\mathrm{GL}_3$ Hecke--Maass cusp forms. In addition, we obtain results under weaker bounds towards Generalised Ramanujan--Petersson Conjecture. Finally, as a by-product of our methods, we improve earlier bounds for the number of Hecke eigenvalues of same sign also in long intervals unconditionally for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ and $\mathrm{GL}_3$ Hecke--Maass cusp forms, and under Generalised Ramanujan--Petersson Conjecture for $\mathrm{GL}_n$ forms when $n\geq 4$.
We prove that for every fixed $\lambda>0$ and all sufficiently large $n$, any $z_1,\dots,z_n\in\C$ with $|z_j|\geq1$ satisfy $\max_{2\leq k\leq n+1}|\sum_j z_j^k|>e^{-\lambda n}$. Consequently, the $n$th root of the optimal maximum tends to $1$, so no constant $C>1$ in Erd\H{o}s 973 can exist. The proof combines a truncated exponential factorization with overconvergence on an open set outside the unit disk and a normal-family obstruction for Cauchy transforms.
We prove the Feldman--Ilmanen--Knopf conjecture for finite time Type I singularities of the K\"ahler--Ricci flow. More precisely, for any compact K\"ahler manifold $Y$ and its blow-up $\pi:\operatorname{Bl}_pY\longrightarrow Y$, if $[\omega_0]-Tc_1(M)=\pi^*[\omega_Y]$, then any Type I parabolic blow-up limit of the K\"ahler Ricci flow along the exceptional divisor is the FIK shrinker $\operatorname{Tot}(\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^{n-1}}(-1))$.
