TL;DR

This study demonstrates the feasibility of whole genome sequencing for dengue surveillance in the Solomon Islands through a referral sequencing model that provides a pathway for progressive local capacity-building and strengthens the evidence base for equitable and sustainable implementation of pathogen genomics across Pacific Island countries and territories.

Resurgence and molecular epidemiology of dengue virus serotype 4 amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand.

An increase in DENV4 detection in Bangkok during 2022-2024 compared with 2018-2021, accompanied by predominance of lineage 4I_A.3 distinct from Malaysian and Indonesian strains reported during a similar period is highlighted.

Genomic surveillance of enterovirus D68 circulating in 2025 reveals the emergence of a novel A2/B3 recombinant lineage

The identification of a novel A2–B3 recombinant lineage provides evidence of ongoing viral evolution through recombination, a mechanism that may alter transmissibility, virulence, or immune responses, and underscores the importance of whole-genome surveillance for accurate viral characterization.

Genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in Tunisia during the omicron era: insights from the national influenza & other respiratory viruses laboratory

While SARS-CoV-2-positive NPS displayed several waves, including substantial peaks in mid-2022 and mid-2023 and subsequent winter peaks, each linked to the establishment or replacement of dominant Omicron lineages, testing volumes indicated recurrent winter rises.

MOLECULAR – GENETIC CONFIRMATION OF INFLUENZA D VIRUS CIRCULATION IN LIVESTOCK OF KAZAKHSTAN

Influenza D virus (IDV) is an emerging respiratory pathogen with a broad host range and increasing recognition as a potential zoonotic agent. Despite growing evidence of IDV circulation across Asia, Europe, and North America, its epidemiology in Central Asia has remained unknown. Here, we report the first molecular det...

Genomic Surveillance and Phylogenetic Analysis of Influenza A(H1N1) pdm09 and A(H3N2) Viruses in Burkina Faso, 2024

The genetic diversity and seasonal dynamics of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and A(H3N2) viruses circulating in Burkina Faso in 2024 showed substantial genetic diversity, highlighting the need for continuous genomic surveillance to inform vaccine strain selection and public health strategies in tropical Africa.
