Molecular Detection and Phylogenetic Characterization of Spotted Fever Group Rickettsiae in Amblyomma javanense Ticks from Illegally Traded Malayan Pangolins.

BACKGROUND The Malayan pangolin (Manis javanica) is a critically endangered species that may harbor diverse zoonotic pathogens. This study aimed to characterize tick species parasitizing confiscated Malayan pangolins and determine the prevalence and genetic diversity of spotted fever group rickettsiae (SFGR) associated...

Diversity and molecular detection of trypanosomatid DNA in Culicoides Latreille (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) biting midges from the western Amazon, Brazil.

Insects of the genus Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) are widely distributed in the Amazon region and are recognized for their medical and veterinary relevance due to their association with the transmission of pathogens, including protozoa and viruses. This study aimed to characterize the Culicoides fauna in perid...

Dogs as rickettsiosis sentinels: Serological and molecular detection of Rickettsia spp. in blood and ectoparasites of dogs from Culiacán, Mexico

Background: Rickettsioses are zoonotic diseases transmitted by ectoparasites, such as ticks and fleas, with increasing public health relevance in Mexico. Dogs act as hosts and epidemiological sentinels, reflecting the environmental circulation of Rickettsia spp. However, despite the favorable environmental conditions,...

The GroEL Gene Molecular Marker in the Detection of Pathogens Rickettsia conorii subspecies indica at the Species Level in the Ixodidae Ticks Collected from Domestic Animals in Different Agro-Climatic Regions in Tamil Nadu, India

Background: Indian tick typhus (ITT) is a type of spotted fever caused by intracellular Rickettsial pathogens, specifically Rickettsia conorii subspecies indica, which exhibits unique clinical symptoms in humans compared to other spotted fevers. Human cases have been reported from several states based on hospital-bas...
