TL;DR

It is demonstrated that closed-loop neural feedback achieves neuron-choice alignment beyond the ceiling of natural perceptual training, suggesting that the misalignment in perceptual tasks reflects constraints on learning within naturally available training regimes.

Neuronal correlates underlying auditory categorization in mice

This work recorded activity from AC of mice implanted with neuropixel electrodes while training them to perform auditory categorization task using two-alternative forced choice task, and showed that neuronal activity in the AC during categorization reflects behavioral performance.

Brain-wide fMRI responses to auditory and visual stimuli in awake mice

Responses to unimodal and bimodal auditory and visual stimulation in awake mice using a quiet zero echo time (zero-TE) functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) approach supported the translational value of mechanistic and disease model-oriented studies of cross-sensory processing in mice.

Visual Stimulus-Specific Adaptation in the Avian Imc and Its Effect on Target Decoding Performance

Investigating visual SSA in the nucleus isthmi pars magnocellularis (Imc), a key inhibitory structure in the pigeon midbrain attention network, indicates that gamma-band LFP primarily reflects stimulus salience, while spikes encode both identity and salience.

A thalamocortical circuit encoding deviations from sensory history.

These findings identify the LP-ACC as a thalamocortical pathway that implements a contrastive, history-referenced representation of sensory evidence during decisions, and identifies LP-ACC as a thalamocortical pathway that implements a contrastive, history-referenced representation of sensory evidence during decisions.

Sound unmasks short-latency tectal visual signals that are independent of the primary visual cortex

This work reversibly inactivated primate V1 and explored the influences on short-latency reflexive saccadic resetting, and randomly interleaving task-irrelevant simultaneous sounds not only recovered the phenomenon, but it was also associated with V1-independent neuronal modulations in both the superior and inferior co...

A shared cortical manifold links sensory error to motor planning

A novel, sound-dependent behavior is developed in which mice use real-time auditory feedback to adjust ongoing forelimb movements, pointing to a candidate general principle for how learning can establish a shared cortical manifold that links distant brain regions, enabling sensory feedback to selectively reshape future...
