TL;DR
It is suggested that ytrE contributes to MRSA pathogenic fitness by supporting envelope homeostasis and resistance to oxidative stress and non-essential factors involved in membrane stability may represent potential targets for future anti-virulence studies.
This study found that both Agr activity and the biofilm of Staphylococcus aureus can be reduced by a sappanwood extract (SWe), and exemplified that it is possible to suppress multiple virulence phenotypes simultaneously in vitro, suggesting a new therapeutic concept to combat S. aureus infection.

The human and livestock pathogen Staphylococcus aureus poses a major clinical challenge due to antibiotic treatment failure. Its resilience is mainly attributed to antibiotic resistance and tolerance mechanisms related to persistence. Here we investigate how two infection-relevant conditions, milk and serum, shape S. a...

It is demonstrated that deletion of arlR significantly reduces the tolerance of the foodborne strain RMSA49 to acetic acid, desiccation, whereas its responses to temperature and osmotic stress not affected, and that the arlR mutant also exhibits significantly enhanced biofilm formation.

Dopamine was taken up by the bacteria and was associated with enhanced pathogenic phenotypes, including increased proliferation, toxin production, biofilm formation, motility, adhesion, and multidrug resistance and deletion of saeS markedly attenuated these dopamine-associated effects.

This study provides a theoretical basis for elucidating the molecular mechanism by which YibT modulates salmonella pathogenicity and shows that yibT contributes to regulate adhesion and invasion of S. typhimurium, and its deletion attenuates bacterial virulence and host pathogenicity.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa remains one of the most important clinical pathogens for which new drugs are needed, due to its resistance machinery. Consequently, there is an increasing effort to develop new and effective treatments against this pathogen. We recently showed that tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (tED...
