Abstract

Despite the remarkable prowess of Vision-Language Models (VLMs) in general multimodal tasks, they remain fundamentally ``flat''when reasoning about the physical world. We argue that this spatial bottleneck stems from a profound dimensional mismatch: while VLMs are trained to interpret 2D projections, true spatial reasoning demands the recovery of latent 3D geometry and temporal continuity. To conquer this high-dimensional complexity, we advocate a shift from monolithic learning to a ``divide and conquer''paradigm. We present FactoSR, a factorized reinforcement learning framework that explicitly interpret the dimensions collapsed by visual projection. At its core, FactoSR decomposes the monolithic problem of world-consistent reasoning into three orthogonal, geometric sub-objectives: planar correspondence ($XY$), depth consistency ($Z$), and temporal reversibility ($T$). By optimizing these verifiable constraints within a unified policy learning mechanism, we effectively transform an ill-posed projection recovery problem into a series of tangible reasoning steps. Extensive evaluations on multi-view and video benchmarks demonstrate that this elegant decomposition yields substantial gains in 3D and 4D reasoning, achieving a 5.9% boost on VSI-Bench and 4.5% on All-Angles-Bench. Our findings suggest that reinforcing explicit, factorized 4D consistency is a critical step toward evolving VLMs into robust, world-aware reasoners.

GaussVLA: Geometry-Aware Spatial Reasoning for Vision-Language-Action Model

GaussVLA is proposed, a Mamba-based VLA that incorporates two custom modules: Gaussian Spatial Tokenizer (GST) to lift frozen semantic and depth features into compact 3D Gaussian tokens, and Depth-Aware Chain-of-Thought (DA-CoT) that performs structured, non-autoregressive geometric reasoning under language and flow-ti...

Injecting Qualitative Spatial Reasoning into World Models via Logic Tensor Networks

World models (WM) learn predictive representations from high-dimensional sensory input. However, their internal knowledge is implicit and often inadequate for systematic reasoning about object structure. Qualitative Spatial Reasoning (QSR) models provide explicit human-readable object descriptions under transformations...

Disentangling 3D Modeling from Spatial Reasoning

This work proposes the Disentangled Spatial Reasoner (DiSR), a simple yet effective framework that reconstructs the physical world into structured 3D evidence using off-the-shelf expert perception models and fine-tunes an LLM with LoRA to perform reasoning solely over this explicit geometric evidence.

SpatialSkill: Self-Evolving Skills for Cross-View Spatial Reasoning

Cross-view spatial reasoning requires a model to align different viewpoints into a coherent spatial representation, yet this ability remains challenging for vision-language models despite being natural to humans. Existing methods typically improve spatial reasoning by updating model weights, which keeps the acquired kn...
