The results establish a physiologically interpretable baseline for cuffless BP estimation using timing-based features in heterogeneous ICU environments and highlight the need for integrating additional waveform characteristics and subject-specific calibration in future developments.
PURPOSE
Continuous, non-invasive blood pressure (BP) monitoring is essential for understanding cardiovascular dynamics in real-world settings. This study evaluated the reliability and validity of a cuffless method for ambulatory BP monitoring using pulse wave travel times derived from bio-impedance, impedance cardiogra...

OBJECTIVE
Sensing modalities for cuffless blood pressure (BP) monitoring remain insufficiently characterized. To address this, we used exploratory data analysis (EDA) to evaluate multimodal physiological signals' associations with reference BP, to gain insight into their BP-related information and characteristics.

Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) is the reference standard for the non-invasive assessment of arterial stiffness but requires dedicated vascular equipment and is not routinely available in clinical practice. Previous studies have shown that arterial stiffness can be estimated from 24-hour ambulatory blood pr...

Continuous and cuffless blood pressure (BP) estimation using photoplethysmography (PPG) has considerable potential for wearable health monitoring. However, PPG records peripheral optical blood-volume-related changes rather than arterial pressure directly, and its waveform is jointly shaped by systemic hemodynamics, loc...
