Assessment of the suppressive efficiency of Bacillus pumilus ToIr-MA and Bacillus cereus Ba2 against Meloidogyne javanica infection in cucumber

Aug 2026 · Journal of plant diseases and protection · Vol 133 · 0 citations · 50 references

TL;DR

In vitro assays identified two highly effective isolates including B. cereus Ba2 and B. pumilus ToIr-MA which exhibited direct toxicity, repellent/fumigant action and the ability to induce systemic resistance, simultaneously, and these integrated traits support B. pumilus ToIr-MA potential for management of M. javanica.

Screening and Characterization of Native Microbial Antagonists for the Development of a Multi-Strain Biocontrol Consortium against Ralstonia solanacearum

Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum remains difficult to manage sustainably, creating a need for compatible native microbial antagonists with complementary biocontrol traits. This study isolated four rhizosphere microorganisms—Trichoderma viride (Tv), Pseudomonas fluorescens (Pf), Bacillus subtilis (Bs) and...

Investigation on the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria against wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense in banana

Fusarium wilt of banana is a significant limitation to banana production in many countries around the globe, which is caused by  Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc). This research was intended to determine the good performance of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) as...

Azelaic acid from Pseudomonas nicosulfuronedens MiC45 as an effective compound against Meloidogyne incognita in susceptible pepper.

BACKGROUND Globally restricted high-toxic chemical nematicides have triggered an urgent demand for ecologically compatible biocontrol alternatives. Antagonistic microbes and their bioactive metabolites serve as eco-friendly candidates to manage Meloidogyne incognita. This study aimed to screen rhizosphere antagonistic...

Nematicidal activity of endophytic bacteria Bacillus spp. against Meloidogyne javanica: effects on juvenile mortality, reproduction factor, and growth of soybean plants

Abstract This study evaluated four endophytic bacteria Bacillus strains as biocontrol agents against Meloidogyne javanica. All produced hydrolytic enzymes (amylase, cellulase, protease, chitinase) and showed strong nematicidal activity, with juvenile mortality comparable to the commercial nematicide Avicta (100%). Egg...

SCREENHOUSE EVALUATION OF Trichoderma viride AND Trichoderma harzianum FOR THE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF CUCUMBER MOSAIC VIRUS AND FUSARIUM WILT IN TOMATO IN CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE, NIGERIA.

These findings demonstrate that both Trichoderma species function as multifunctional bioagents capable of simultaneously suppressing fungal and viral diseases while promoting tomato growth, with T. viride showing superior overall efficacy and strong potential for sustainable integrated disease management.
