Abstract

Let $\mathbb{G}$ be a stratified Lie group and $\mathcal L$ be its sub-Laplacian. We prove that the full horizontal Riesz transform $\nabla_{H} \mathcal L^{-1/2}$ is of weak type $(1,1)$ on real-valued functions, with constant at most $2$. In particular, the constant is independent of the horizontal dimension, the homogeneous dimension, the step, and the underlying group structure of $\mathbb{G}$. Our result provides a noncommutative generalization of the dimension-free Euclidean theorem of Ouyang, Spector, and Stockdale arXiv:2608.18068, with the same universal constant. Our proof relies upon a fractional obstacle problem adapted to stratified Lie groups by using the functional calculus of $\mathcal L$ instead of the Fourier transform. As a consequence, by interpolation we obtain uniform $L^p$ bounds for the full horizontal Riesz transform $\nabla_{H} \mathcal L^{-1/2}$ for $p \in (1,2]$. By contrast, for every $p>2$, we construct a sequence of stratified Lie groups with fixed horizontal dimension $5$ and steps tending to infinity for which the $L^p$ norms of the horizontal Riesz transforms diverge.

On low-dimensional uniform rectifiability in Heisenberg groups - Part 2

Let $1\leq k\leq n$. We prove that $k$-dimensional intrinsic Lipschitz graphs in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$ satisfy a geometric lemma $\mathrm{GLem}(\beta_{2,\mathcal{V}_k},p)$ for horizontal $\beta$-numbers with an exponent $p=p(k)$. Previously, this result was known only in the case $k=1$; our proof recovers...

Fourier rearrangements on discrete groups: $L^p$ and operator-norm subsequence convergence

Let $\Gamma$ be an infinite finitely generated group that is hyperbolic or of polynomial growth. For $f$ belonging to the reduced group $C^*$ algebra $C_r^*(\Gamma)$, we construct a rearrangement of its individual Fourier terms with a subsequence converging to $f$ in the operator norm. For every $2\le p<\infty$ and $f$...

Dimension-free weak $(1,1)$ estimates for Riesz transforms with constant drift

Let $L_v=-\Delta-2v\cdot\nabla$ on $L^2(\mathbb R^n,e^{2v\cdot x}\,dx)$, where $v\in\mathbb R^n\setminus\{0\}$ is a constant drift vector. We prove that the full vector Riesz transform $\nabla L_v^{-1/2}$ satisfies a weak-type $(1,1)$ estimate for real-valued functions with constant at most $2$, uniformly in both the d...

Isometric embeddings of noncommutative $L_p$-spaces into noncommutative symmetric spaces

We establish a noncommutative version of a familiar Johnson--Maurey--Schechtman--Tzafriri Theorem, by showing that for any $0<p<2$ and a (not necessarily semifinite) von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$ on a separable Hilbert space, if a symmetric quasi-Banach function space $E(0,1) $ containing the function $t\mapsto t^{...

Morphism spaces on low degree hypersurfaces

For $r>2$, we study the moduli space parameterising fixed degree morphisms $\mathbb P^r\to X$ where $X$ is a smooth hypersurface of low degree. More precisely, we prove the following result: let $n\geq 2, e\geq 1$ and $X\subset \mathbb P^{n-1}$ a smooth degree $d\geq 2$ hypersurface over an algebraically closed field o...

Improved sup-norm bounds for locally symmetric spaces

Let $X=G/K$ be a symmetric space of noncompact type, of dimension $n$ and rank $r$, and let $Y=\Gamma\backslash X$. Sarnak's local bound for an $L^2$-normalized spherical joint eigenfunction with regular tempered parameter of size $T$ is $\|\phi\|_\infty\ll T^{(n-r)/2}$. We prove $o(T^{(n-r)/2})$ locally uniformly on e...
